Cardiology fellowship in Singapore: registration and applying

What to check when you plan cardiology training in Singapore, from the register of medical practitioners to how each hospital recruits.

Registration comes first

The Singapore Medical Council states that all medical practitioners must be registered with the council and issued a Practising Certificate before they can practise medicine in Singapore. It publishes the list of recognised basic medical qualifications and a list of registrable postgraduate qualifications. Check where your own qualifications stand before you plan a move.

Hospital clusters recruit separately

Fellowships are usually run by individual hospitals or clinical institutes within the healthcare clusters. Each states its own eligibility, application window and selection steps. Use the official page linked from each profile and confirm that it describes the year you want.

What to ask

Ask whether the post is clinical, research or observational, which procedures fellows perform, how the post is funded, whether international graduates are eligible and who supports registration and work-pass applications.

Plan for lead time

Registration and immigration steps take time and depend on your circumstances. Start as early as the hospital allows and keep written confirmation of what is required and who is responsible.

Use the directory as a map

Use the country page to list the hospitals recorded, then verify every detail with the official source. A listing does not establish a vacancy.
